The first rehearsal for the Cadet Band students was simply amazing! They were all very respectful and responsible. Their first note that they played together was wonderful and everyone in the room was very excited! It will be fun to hear their progress as they work toward their first performance on Sunday, December 8th. 

The first Cadet Band rehearsal of the school year will be one week from today! (Tuesday, Oct. 22nd). All Cadet Band students must bring their instrument and lesson book to school for this and all of the rest of the rehearsals. Full band rehearsals will be every Tuesday (starting Oct. 22nd) from 3-4PM in the Honeywell cafeteria! 

It is extremely important that students come prepared for their band lessons, especially these first few weeks! Please be sure your child has their instrument, book, and practice sheet with them on their lesson days. Mrs. McCannon’s and Miss Behrends’ students have their lessons every Tuesday and Mrs. Brackmann’s and Mrs. Smith’s students have their lessons every Thursday.

Missing one lesson is like missing a whole week’s worth of work since there is only one lesson per week. Students are learning proper posture, hand position, how to read music, how to produce a sound, and their first 3 notes all in their lessons this week and next. That is a lot of material to miss if they don’t have their instrument! It is also difficult to catch up, so it’s better if they never fall behind!

Students will not be allowed to call home for their instruments after next week, so please help your child get into a routine now to avoid any problems later on.
